Town of Piermont – Memorial Day Observances
Piermont marks Memorial Day with special observances in honor of our veterans. This annual is an opportunity for our community to gather, and to pause and remember the bravery and sacrifice of fallen Veterans, as well as the sacrifices made by their surviving families and loved ones.
Our 2026 event on Monday May 25th will begin at 11:00 AM with a festive parade including our Grand Marshal, local veterans, community groups and residents, and musical accompaniment by the Upper Valley Community Band. The parade starts at the Piermont Congregational Church on Church Street and proceeds to South Lawn Cemetery.
**Parade participants should arrive at the church by 10:45am to organize and line up.
Following the parade will be a ceremony in the Veterans Memorial Garden in South Lawn Cemetery. The ceremony will include a welcome by the Master of Ceremonies and Selectboard, guest speakers, special recognition of our local veterans, music by the Piermont Village School chorus and band members and more. In case of rain, the ceremony will be held in the gymnasium at Piermont Village School.
After the ceremony, be sure to visit the annual Piermont Village School BBQ to raise funds for the 7th/8th grade class trip and the Piermont Public Library’s book sale.
Thank you to Piermont residents and town organizations, including the Fire Department, the Friends of Piermont, the Police Department, the Trustees of the Library, the Historical Society, the Piermont Village School, and others, for continuing to make this memorable tradition possible each year. Special thanks to Andy Mauchly for leading the organization of this year’s event.
