The Piermont FAST Squad currently consists of just four dedicated members although it is hoped that this will increase to five or more very soon.
Emergencies affect everybody’s life at some time. The Squad responds to all FAST and Fire calls and appreciates the support and assistance given by the Fire, Police and Emergency Management departments to help affect the best outcome of such a call. We are on call every day, 24 hours a day to provide any medical cover that is required as well as at any town function such as Community Day and partake in the Emergency Preparedness Training events held by the EMD.
We are always looking for energetic, dedicated and compassionate volunteers who are willing to join the Squad and obtain the Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT). This qualification comprises about 120 hours of training. The Squad will reimburse, over time, a successful pass. There are additional levels of EMT and we encourage these. Please contact us or attend a training night if you are interested.
Training nights are usually held the last Thursday every month at the Fire Department. Residents are encouraged to come down and see what the FAST Squad is all about.
Current members are Ellen Putnam, Dr Alex Medlicott, Chris Yeager and Michele Thayer. Tucker Trapp will be joining us as soon as he completes the Emergency Medical Responder course and we have at least one more prospective new member joining us in the near future! We’re making great gains.
