The Planning Board was created by ordinance at the 1967 Town Meeting as required by RSA 673:1. Board members are appointed by the Board of Selectmen for a term of three years. The Planning Board nominates the Chairman and Vice Chairman. The mission of this Board is to promote the general welfare of the community with a view to its future needs as well as its present condition through appropriate land use and long range planning. To do this, it utilizes the Town’s Master Plan, Subdivision Regulations and other appropriate Ordinances and Regulations and ensures the compliance to them. The revision of the 1991 Master Plan began in 2004 and was completed in 2013. The Planning Board is also responsible for proposing changes to the various Town’s Ordinances and Regulations. These may be suggested or raised by the public or another Board or Committee but it is the Planning Board that finalizes the eventual proposal to the Legislative Body at the Annual Town Meeting.
Meetings of the Board are held on the third Wednesday of each month starting at 7 p.m. at the Old Church Building on Route 10. The public is always welcome.
The Planning Board follows the procedures that are contained within the Piermont Planning Board By-Laws or Procedures.
Applications for subdivision, lot line adjustments, mergers of lots, and excavation may be obtained by downloading the relevant form or permit from this website (see links below or the Documents or Permits and Forms webpages), completing and then submitting to the Town Office at 130 Route 10, Piermont, NH 03779 and marked for the attention of the Planning Board.
